Today’s edition of Daily (ish) Favouriting comes in the form of an excellent mental health website called mindcheck.ca.
The site is the result of a partnership between British Columbia health agencies (Fraser Health, BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services, Provincial Health Services Authority), and while created originally for British Columbia’s 13-25 year olds, is a resource that transcends regional boundaries. It highlights topics such as:
- Mood, anxiety and depression
- Alcohol and other drugs
- Reality check (looking at psychosis)
- Body image and eating
Within these topics, there are quizzes, stories from other teens and young adults, potential symptoms associated with these issues, ways to take care of one’s self, and other resources in case friends, families or our students are dealing with any of these issues. It also has an extensive section on how to get help here in B.C.
Personally, any resource that helps move the conversations surrounding mental health and illness forward is very much welcomed and appreciated. If you know of any additional high-quality resources in this area, I’d love to see them.
Until next time…
